KNOW YOUR RIGHTS

1.   When you apply for a job the employer cannot ask you questions about your disability.

2.   You must be treated the same as the other workers at your job.

3.   Even if a parks program has special classes for people with disabilities, they still must let you be in regular programs if you want to be.

4.   All government agencies must make sure you understand the things they give you to read or the things they tell you.

5.   Businesses like stores, restaurants, movies theatres, and bowling    alleys must treat you the same as they treat other people and  must help you find what you need and enjoy their activities.

6.   Schools must give you the same opportunities that all students have.

7.   Agencies that help you have to treat you with respect.

8.   Apartment owners cannot refuse to rent to you just because of you disability.

9.   Apartment owners must treat you the same as the other people in the apartment building.

   10.         Apartment owners help you understand anything they ask you to read or sign.    

 

IMPORTANT TIPS

1.  BE PROUD of who you are including your disability.

2.  LEARN as much as you can about your disability and what things help you be successful.

3.  ASK FOR WHAT YOU NEED!
